Faithfulness

This past weekend I was overwhelmed with the thought of what it meant to be faithful.  I recalled my Paw Paw Cook who went to see Granny as she lay in a vegetative state for 7 years.  He never missed a day to see her except for one.  That was the day that I got married.  Every day for 7 years he was faithful to talk to her, stand by her, and comfort her.
I thought about that a lot this weekend.  This was the weekend that we buried my Paw Paw Gladden.  He was an amazing man who was married to the same woman for 50+ years.  The world doesn't see that kind of stability now.  Sure they argued a bunch, but when it all came down to it, they needed each other.  This is the same man who used to chop wood with one arm.  The same man who taught me how to tinker with things.  Then to see him last weekend as he reminded me so much of my Granny Cook, it was tough.  He would never be the same man and it was obvious what was happening.
I am so grateful for my church, and my Christian friends.  The asked me how to pray, and I told them to pray for mercy for my Paw Paw and for an opportunity to share the faith that I have to my family.  Matthew 7:7-8 says "Ask and it shall be given, seek and you will find, knock and it shall be opened.  For whoever asks receives, and whoever seeks, finds, and whoever knocks it shall be opened".  We asked and we received.  The morning of the funeral services I had an opportunity to talk with my mom.  It was a great conversation and I am grateful that I had an opportunity to encourage her through the holy spirit.  We prayed for mercy and received it, we prayed for an opportunity and He gave it.  What an awesome God we serve.

I love you Paw Paw
